Monday could bring more snow, thunderstorms and record cold temperatures to Boise
Just when the Treasure Valley had hoped winter was gone for good, it made a reappearance. After enjoying temperatures in the 70s on Friday, Boiseans woke up to snow.
Breezy northwest winds reaching 30 mph blew in snow showers Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Airport recordings showed 0.5 inches of snow as of 10 a.m., nearing the 0.7 record for April 10 set in 1927. Experts predict 1 to 3 inches to fall throughout Sunday and 3 to 5 inches in the mountains, according to the Weather Service.
Forecasters said they expect the cold front to bring even more snow Monday, lasting from early morning to midday. Snowfall may continue on and off through Thursday. Six to 10 inches could accumulate in valley areas and up to 16 inches in the mountains.
Isolated thunderstorms and strong winds up to 50 mph are predicted to follow Tuesday evening, according to the Weather Service.
Temperatures in the 30s and 40s could break records for some of the coldest ever for this week of April in Boise. Temperatures will be around 20 to 25 degrees below normal Monday through Wednesday, according to the Weather Service.
