How much is gas in Idaho right now? Find cheapest options in your city
Gas prices are rising in Idaho as conflicts continue to flare in the Middle East.
The cost of a gallon of regular gas in Idaho increased about 19 cents over the weekend, according to AAA.
Idaho has seen a “whopper” of an increase in gas prices, according to Idaho AAA spokesperson Matthew Conde.
What are current gas prices in Idaho?
As of Monday, March 16, a gallon of regular gasoline in Idaho cost about $3.70 on average, AAA said, only 2 cents under the nationwide average of $3.72 per gallon.
The price of gas in the Gem State has risen about 42 cents compared to a week ago, and about 75 cents in the past month.
Around the same time in 2025, a gallon of regular gas cost about $3.18 on average in Idaho, about 51 cents less than the current cost.
“That’s a big change,” Conde told the Idaho Statesman on Monday via phone.
Why is gas so expensive right now?
“Ongoing conflict in the Middle East means continued pain at the pump, both for Idaho drivers and across the country,” Conde previously told the Statesman.
As of Monday, the Strait of Hormuz was closed to shipping in response to air strikes on Iran by the United States and Israel, halting trade through the maritime port and sending crude oil costs soaring.
Crude oil is the main ingredient used to make gasoline and diesel — and about half of the price for gas comes from the cost of crude oil, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Gas stations’ annual switch to summer-blend gasoline is also pushing prices higher in Idaho.
However, Conde hopes to see prices in Idaho eventually stabilize.
Idaho receives most of its fuel from Utah oil refineries, the Statesman previously reported.
As of Monday, the average price of gas in Utah was about $3.60 per gallon, according to AAA.
Conde said he would be “more worried” If Utah gas prices were higher than the cost of gas in Idaho.
