Coronavirus: Idaho museum offering camps to prepare young kids for school year

The Children’s Museum of Idaho will offer resources for parents concerned with their child’s education during the coronavirus outbreak.

In a news release, the Meridian museum announced it will offer school readiness camps starting in August to help prepare children for the start of the school year. The camps — named Ready, Set, Go Camps — will feature “play-based learning” in subjects like math, science and arts.

Each camp is three days and has two sessions. The camps will be offered over a three-week period, which starts Aug. 11. The camps have two age groups: ages 3-4 and ages 5-6.

“We know this is a stressful time for parents with the uncertainty of if, or how schools will reopen this fall,” said Pat Baker, the museum’s executive director, in the news release. “These camps will keep children engaged and learning in a small group setting with a maximum of nine students in each session.”

Children will have to bring their own supplies and masks will be required, according to the news release.
