Idaho adds another county with community spread of the coronavirus; 49 new cases reported

Lincoln County was added Monday as the latest Idaho county reporting community spread of the coronavirus, with 31 cases in the county, according to the South Central Public Health District.

Monday’s updated testing numbers showed Idaho reporting 49 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus since the Saturday update.

That brings the statewide total to 2,880 people who’ve tested positive for the virus. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reported another 301 “probable cases.”

There is still inconsistent data around the number of cases in Benewah County. The Panhandle Health District reports Benewah County has had only seven confirmed cases, but the state website reports more than twice that number. The Panhandle Health District also lists eight positive cases that are “undetermined” as a county of residence.

Idaho has seen 83 deaths connected to COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. Idaho has gone a week without a new death reported.

Idaho Gov. Brad Little is scheduled to address the state’s potential move to Stage 4 of his Rebound Idaho plan on Thursday. Part of the criteria for moving into Stage 4 is to see a consistent downward trajectory of new cases and COVID-19-related admissions to the emergency room. Little’s press conference on the subject will be broadcast on Idaho Public Television beginning at 10 a.m.
