Another quiet day for the coronavirus in Boise area; East Idaho sees more cases
Idaho’s new confirmed coronavirus cases primarily appeared in south-central and eastern Idaho on Tuesday.
Bannock, Bingham and Caribou counties in the Southeastern Idaho Public Health district accounted for seven new cases, while Cassia, Jerome and Minidoka added four cases in the South Central Public Health District.
Gooding was Idaho’s 21st county with confirmed community spread, according to SCPHD.
Ada County added only one new case (for 763 total), according to Boise-based Central District Health, and Washington County added one. With just 13 new confirmed cases statewide, the total sits at 2,668.
There were no new deaths reported in the state, leaving the death toll at 83.
There are 273 “probable cases” throughout the state, an increase of 10 from Monday. Health and Welfare reports that 2,282 cases are “presumed recovered.”

Hospitalizations: Health and Welfare reports that there have been 251 hospitalizations due to the coronavirus, 98 admissions to the ICU and 311 health care workers who have been infected. The hospital and health care numbers are based on cases with completed investigations into contacts, not the full number of positives.
Testing totals: At the end of the day Tuesday, Health and Welfare reported that 48,669 tests had been completed statewide. About 5.5% of those have been positive for COVID-19.
