Construction of seven townhouses on the Boise Bench is planned to begin in May, while nine adjacent apartments are in the review process, EV Studio architect Pat Corbett said.

The 16-unit development is planned for 1821 S. Vista Ave. Corbett recently applied for the project to receive approval from Boise’s park, police and fire departments.

This rendering shows future townhouses at 1821 S. Vista Ave. Construction on the development is expected to begin in May. The full project also includes nine apartment units.

Verve Boise, a building with 175 apartments on the northwest corner of South Protest Road and West Boise Avenue, is progressing with construction.

St. Louis-based developer Subtext applied for a podium permit to continue building.

The building is on the site of the Ridenbaugh Place Apartments, which were demolished before construction on Verve Boise began.

Five new buildings with 138 apartments may be on their way to Harris Ranch in Boise’s Barber Valley.

According to a permit filing, there would be one building with 38 units, two with 30 each, and two with 20 each. The 38-unit building would have four stories while the others would each have three stories.

The application listed the address as 4110 E. Warm Springs Ave.

The requested permit would include and includes “all site improvements.” The complex’s clubhouse, amenities and carports would be covered under different permit applications.

Dave Evans Construction’s Mysti Stelluto is listed as the project’s applicant. No developer is listed.

Ketchum-based Alpine Investment Group LLC wants to build self storage at 9700 S. Blue Cloud Lane, southeast of the Boise Airport near Interstate-84.

Alpine Investment Group is listed as the registered agent for Blue Cloud Partners LLC, which is listed as the property owner on a design review application. The application calls for storage units and an office, a total of seven buildings.

Catherine Baremore wants to open a day care center in a strip mall at 10477 W. Fairview Ave., near North Five Mile Road in West Boise.

As part of the process for obtaining a conditional use permit, Baremore applied for a list of neighbors’ addresses to inform them of a neighborhood meeting.

A new Fire Station 5 could replace the existing building at the same location at downtown’s western edge.

Fire Station 5 is at 212 S. 16th St. just north of Rhodes Skate Park and the I-184 Connector. The design of the new station could be reviewed soon, according to an application.

An architect’s rendering from last year shows how a proposed new Fire Station 5 at 16th and Front streets might look. The new building would be in the same place where Fire Station 5 already sits.

The Boise Bicycle Project invited the public to a launch party Friday, April 29, for the unveiling of its new, 2,500-square-foot warehouse, a new workspace for after-school programs and volunteers’ use, and expanded do-it-yourself bike-repair space for the public.

The party is from 6 to 8 p.m. at the project’s headquarters, 1027 S. Lusk St. The nonprofit applied in March to use the space next door at 1031 S. Lusk St.

“BBP’s expansion will make it possible to fis and distribute hundreds of more bicycles in the community each year and double its volunteer capacity,” Director Jimmy Hallyburton said in a news release. “We’ve been trying to get into this space for eight years.”

Meridian

Around Idaho

St. Luke’s Health System bought a building with 10 studio apartments in McCall to provide housing for employees, the Idaho Business Review reports.

An executive of St. Luke’s McCall Medical Center told the Idaho Business Review in March that some people to whom St. Luke’s extends job offers turn them down, because they cannot find affordable housing in the central Idaho resort town. The hospital has turned to traveling nurses and other temporary-contract workers to help, but some of them, too, turn down the jobs citing housing costs and availability.
