The clock is ticking for this ‘plucky’ Meridian restaurant and bar. Here’s why
Time is running out at a well-known Mexican restaurant and bar in Meridian.
But that’s a good thing.
El Gallo Giro, 1435 N. Eagle Road, is in the midst of relocating to 1505 S. Eagle Road. The new location — formerly Giggy D’s — is roughly five minutes away and larger, El Gallo Giro wrote on social media, “to better serve all of you.”
Regulars still have time for one last behemoth margarita and plate of street tacos at the current restaurant, which isn’t closed yet. It will remain open for “a few more weeks.”
“More space. More energy. More sports,” the social-media post promised, describing the new space as El Gallo Giro Mexican Restaurant and Sports Cantina. “Same family. Same recipes. Same heart.”
Calling itself the area’s “premier Mexican food restaurant,” El Gallo Giro also operates at 5285 N. Glenwood St. in Garden City. “They pride themselves on their authentic flavor and plucky attitude,” El Gallo Giro says on Facebook.
Founded in 1997 and family-owned, El Gallo Giro is a familiar brand in the Treasure Valley. In the past, El Gallo Giro also had restaurants in downtown Boise and in Kuna.
The Meridian restaurant is rated 4.2 out of 5 stars on Google and 3.5 out of 5 on Yelp.
