The chicken wings ‘slap’ at this new Boise restaurant. That’s not all it serves

A new family-owned Asian restaurant just opened in a former pizzeria building — and positive feedback is quickly piling up online.

Tov Curry and Wing — stylized as TOV Curry and Wing — has taken over the former Spitfire Craft Pizza & Pints space at 2450 S. Vista Ave. The fast-casual restaurant, which celebrated its grand opening Feb. 6, focuses its menu on katsu curry, Korean chicken wings and boba drinks. Online ordering is available.

With customers praising both the food and the staff, Tov has earned 4.9 out of 5 stars from 23 Google reviews during its initial two-plus weeks.

Tov describes its Korean fried chicken as “crispy, golden and delicious,” with sauce flavors running the gamut from BBQ, Buffalo and Garlic Parmesan to Korean Volcano, Mango Habanero and even Sprinkle Cheese Dust.

The verdict? “Chicken wings slap,” one Google reviewer raved, adding, “you better get over here and get some.”

Wings range in price from $9.99 for six to $49.99 for 40. Wings also are available in a $16.95 combination: any katsu on the menu, three wings and a medium drink.

The katsu, which comes with steamed rice and curry, ranges from $10.95 to $12.95 individually. Options include pork, chicken, fish, tempura and tofu. Bulgogi and spicy pork spare-rib stir fries also are available.

In a rare rating that falls below five stars — three, in this case — one self-described “curry fiend” claimed Tov’s was not up to the level one might find in Japan. In a reply, Tov clarified that its recipe is “inspired more by ‘Korean home-style curry’ — the kind of comfort food we grew up eating.”

Either way, plenty of customers love it. The food, one Google reviewer declared, “was phenomenal! The best curry katsu chicken I ever had! The owners and staff were so hospitable!”

Tov also sells tteokbokki and do-it-yourself ramen. Plus, there are tons of boba drinks ($5.95), matcha ($7.25) and milk tea ($7.25).

In this part of Boise, Tov Curry and Wing may have found a niche.

“Crispy and deliciously flavored wings, comforting tteokbokki, and my daughter loved the simple ramen options,” gushed another 5-star review. “Even more so, the family working was an absolute delight. Very attentive and proud of their growing business. Overall it was a refreshing experience, will absolutely be in again soon!”
