Idaho chef to compete on Food Network’s top-rated series. She won 3 other shows

When an Idaho chef competes on Food Network this spring, it definitely won’t be her first rodeo.

But she has 150,000 reasons to give it her best shot.

Food Network veteran Britt Rescigno, co-founder and co-chef at Fiamma in Sun Valley, is returning to Guy Fieri’s “Tournament of Champions.” The seventh season premieres at 9 p.m. Sunday, March 1.

Rescigno is one of “32 of the nation’s best chefs” slated to compete, according to a press release. “After eight weeks and 31 grueling head-to-head battles, one talented chef will win it all and be crowned champion,” according to the release, “taking home the coveted ‘Tournament of Champions’ belt and a $150,000 cash prize.”

Rescigno has extensive Food Network experience. She won “Chopped” in 2019. She “Beat Bobby Flay” with her grandma’s chicken and dumplings that same year. She emerged victorious on “Guy’s Grocery Games.” (And appeared again — on the show’s “Extreme Express Lane” edition — earlier this month.) Rescigno also previously has “(cooked) her way into the final four of ‘Tournament of Champions,’ Seasons 4, 5 and 6,” according to her bio.

A South Jersey native with restaurant experience on both coasts, Rescigno opened Fiamma a year ago with her wife, co-founder and co-chef Kinsey Leodler-Rescigno. An Italian-inspired live-fire restaurant, Fiamma is located at 211 Leadville Ave. North in Ketchum.

Prior to the new season of “Tournament of Champions,” a qualifiers show will air on Food Network at 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. “Tournament of Champions VII: The Bracket Reveal,” is scheduled for Feb. 22.

“ ‘Tournament of Champions’ has been Food Network’s top-rated series for five years running and each season we up the ante making the competition more intense than the last,” said Betsy Ayala, head of content, food, at Warner Bros. Discovery. “With the surprises we have in store this season and the extraordinary level of talent competing,” Ayala added in a press release, “we can’t wait to share this next-level, high-adrenaline competition with viewers.”
