Get ready, Meridian, this new coffee chain is gonna play dirty. It opens Tuesday

Prepare yourself, caffeine junkies. A Colorado coffee chain will open its first Idaho location Tuesday.

And this newcomer likes to play dirty — in a delicious way.

Offering an array of java creations, dirty sodas and more, Ziggi’s Coffee will sling drinks at 4801 S. Tavistock Ave. — along Amity Road in south Meridian. The locally owned franchise is a drive thru-only operation.

To celebrate, Ziggi’s will host a community fundraiser 24 hours after it opens. Twenty percent of all sales Wednesday will benefit St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital, according to a press release.

Ziggi’s hours will be 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. To keep the drive-thru moving at sunrise, customers will need to shake off that morning rust and be decisive. Which won’t be easy.

The Ziggi’s drink menu is not small. And it’s diverse. Sort of like Dutch Bros meets Swig. You’ll find dozens of hot and cold options — caffeinated, sugary, fruity and more. Drink categories include coffees, dirty sodas, “Energy Infusions,” blenders, chais, teas, “Fresherz,” sparkling sodas and fruit smoothies.

Famished? There’s food, too. And more variety than you might suspect. The quick-service menu includes everything from breakfast egg bites, sandwiches and burritos to scones, cookies and cake pops. There’s even a gluten-free English muffin sandwich and gluten-free cinnamon swirl bread.

Rated No. 2 for “Best Drive-Thru Coffee” in the most recent USA Today 10Best readers’ choice awards, Ziggi’s is a veteran brand growing more like a teenage kid. Founded in Longmont, Colorado, in 2004, Ziggi’s started franchising a decade ago. Now the chain operates more than 110 locations in 23 states, according to the press release — with more than 200 in development.

Might that include additional locations in the Treasure Valley?

“There are no current plans for more Ziggi’s in Idaho,” spokesperson Missa Webb said in a message, adding that, “however, we are always open to the possibility if the opportunity presents itself!”
