Something fishy’s here Boise, but not because it’s been 3 restaurants in 2 years
Something fishy is going on at restaurant across from the Boise Co-op — but not because that space is housing its third concept in two years.
Raibu Sushi Bar, 808 W. Fort St., opened Thursday, next door to Pho Real.
The brand takes over a North End spot that held a neighborhood public house until 2023 and a French-inspired bistro after that.
Raibu has posted its menu on its website. And you might be able to glean some insight from a handful of reviews on Yelp and Google — but realize that most would seem to be from a private “friends and family” gathering, or gatherings, conducted prior to the opening. (It’s wonderful to have friends and family, but their opinions? Best to take those with a shaker full of salt.)
Raibu Sushi Bar aims to bring “world-class sushi to the heart of the North End,” its social media promises. And, according to previous Statesman reporting, it’s a high-end sushi concept from California-based Kash Feng — CEO of Omakase Restaurant Group — and his Boise-based business partner.
Earlier this year, Feng told the Statesman that along with sushi, Raibu would serve steaks and seafood cooked over an open fire on a Japanese charcoal grill. Sounds promising, right?
If you choose to wander down and dive into the menu, be aware that Raibu is not a large space. “Regular dine-in will be based on first-come, first-served,” according to Raibu’s website, while the “omakase experience” (omakase is similar to prix fixe) takes a reservation.
Raibu’s hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
