May is Burger Battle month in Idaho for dozens of restaurants. Eat. Vote!

If you’re a hamburger fan in the Gem State, May promises to be extra hot and juicy.

A whopping 27 restaurants with 36 locations will go head to head in a monthlong Idaho Beef Burger Battle — presented by the Idaho Beef Council.

Whether it’s familiar Boise establishments such as Fork and Brixx Craft House, or a scenic road-trip destination such as Hilltop Station, “Idaho’s top chefs are pulling out all the stops to impress,” according to a press release.

That means each restaurant will offer a special, limited-time hamburger: “From the classic juicy cheeseburger to smoky BBQ bacon, spicy jalapeños, or even sweet huckleberry,” the release says.

Check out this example. Holy Cow Idaho in Nampa has concocted The Cherry Bomb ($16.79 with french fries): one-third pound of grass-fed Wagyu with white cheddar cheese, smoky bacon, buttermilk onion straws, roasted jalapeno aioli and black cherry barbecue sauce on a toasted brioche bun from Gaston’s Bakery.

The colossal Cherry Bomb ($16.79 with french fries) will be the feature hamburger for Nampa’s Holy Cow Idaho during May.

“Visit participating restaurants throughout May and order their special Idaho Beef Burger Battle entry,” the press release says. “The list of competing restaurants can be found at www.IDBeef.org/BeefBurgerBattle, where customers can also vote for their favorites.

“The restaurant with the most votes combined with the greatest volume of beef sold will be crowned the Idaho Beef Burger Battle champion, earning bragging rights, a spotlight feature from the Idaho Beef Council, and a stunning Beef Burger Battle champion trophy.”

“Try as many burgers as you like — each one is a unique, limited-time creation,” Maycie Goodlander, marketing specialist with the Idaho Beef Council, said in a prepared statement. “We’re excited to celebrate National Beef Burger Month by showcasing the creativity of Idaho’s chefs and the incredible quality of Idaho beef.”
