Headquarters moved to Boise, chain to open 2nd ‘incredible’ Idaho restaurant

When regional chain Zullee Mediterranean Grill made its Treasure Valley debut, Idahoans knew next to nothing about it.

Less than three years later, word has spread — to say the least.

“This place is INCREDIBLE,” a Local Guide recently proclaimed on Google, where the Village at Meridian restaurant rates 4.6 out of 5.0 stars from a whopping 481 reviews.

“Absolute deliciousness,” another reviewer gushed. “Zullee Mediterranean ... is a gem!”

It’s also expanding. After moving its corporate office from Washington state to Boise, Zullee is about to unveil its second Idaho restaurant.

The newest Zullee Mediterranean Grill is set to open at 16383 N. Marketplace Blvd. in Nampa — in a former Qdoba space next to Five Guys. The hope is May 1, founder Ahmed Baqer said in a message.

Specializing in fresh, healthy-leaning dishes, Zullee keeps prices reasonable while offering an array of tempting menu options. They range from a bowl of housemade lentil soup with pita ($4.79) or a chicken salad ($15.99, with choice of kabob, souvlaki or shawarma) to a falafel sandwich ($10.49), grilled veggie bowl ($12.99) or a full-on dinner — of lamb souvlaki ($18.49), chicken shawarma ($16.49) or more.

Boasting a modern, elegant interior, Zullee is a rebranding of Kabob House, a Washington concept launched in 2011. A decade later, Baquer changed the brand to Zullee. In addition to the Meridian restaurant, Zullee operates Washington locations in Yakima, Spokane and Richland.

Traditional, seated dining is popular at Zullee, but takeout and delivery also are available.

A tasty takeout choice? Zulle’s mega-popular gyro sandwich. For $11.49, it comes with beef and lamb gyro meat, lettuce, tomato, housemade onion mix and housemade tzatziki sauce — all wrapped in a warm pita.

Consider ordering Persian Hot Tea ($2.99), too. It’s brewed daily — and pairs well with dessert.

“Try it with our baklava,” Zullee recommended on social media, “you’ll thank us later.”
