Second sandwich shop in 3 years to close in Boise space. Guess what opens next?
The second sandwich shop in just over three years plans to close soon in a downtown Boise space next to Cherie Buckner-Webb Park.
Want to take a stab at what might open next?
Surprise! Another mouthwatering sandwich mecca!
Anesso is slated to take over Green’s Deli, 1100 W. Idaho St. For fans of Black Moon Pastries & Pizza in Garden City, this is “something pretty exciting,” as a marketing email proclaimed last week. Anesso will be a sandwich shop from Black Moon.
The new concept will specialize in Italian-style sandwiches, co-owner Barry Faught explained by phone. The fresh bread will be made at the Black Moon bakery.
“We’re going to do focaccia bread,” he said. “We’re going to do ciabatta. We’re doing to do our baguette. Our country loaf. And then we’re going to do Dutch crunch bread.”
Anesso will offer salads, too.
Despite being downtown — on the ground level of the 11th & Idaho building — Anesso won’t feature high-rise prices. “We’re going to keep it affordable,” Faught said. “We want to make sure somebody can come here and have lunch at a reasonable price.”
Craving caffeine? Anesso will be next door to Broadcast Coffee, which Faught also co-owns.
Green’s Deli, which opened in 2022 as Green’s Market, is on track to say goodbye after a final day Thursday. It took over another sandwich destination, Parkside Market, which had been launched earlier that same year.
Green’s husband-and-wife owners, who also operate Green Acres Food Truck Park in Boise, want to focus more on that popular attraction — and on family. “I just had our second baby boy in the past few weeks,” Anny Frampton explained in a message. “When we heard Barry’s team wanted to expand, it was a great fit to have them take over the deli.”
Faught hopes to open Anesso in early May after painting and adding new furniture. Like Green’s Deli, the shop will offer seating for about 20 inside.
After the initial launch, Anesso will unveil an interior “phase two” in late summer or early fall, he said. “We’re going to add a little market. We’ll do, like, Italian cheese, wine, olives, olive oil. All that good stuff. Maybe pasta.”
Faught encouraged interested Idahoans to follow the shop’s Instagram page for updates: @anesso.co.
