This new Italian steakhouse will open in Boise with a hidden speakeasy. It’s not downtown
It’s early for New Year’s resolutions, but here’s a fun-sounding Boise commitment to make: Check out the latest restaurant to shake up the dining scene.
Restaurant and speakeasy, that is.
Corso Italian Steak is coming to 1555 S. Broadway Ave. Targeting an opening in the first quarter of 2024, it will take over the former Jalapeno’s Bar & Grill building.
Corso Italian Steak “will offer a unique fusion of iconic and classic American Italian dishes,” according to a media release, “expertly combining the techniques and flavors that have made both cuisines beloved worldwide. With a strong emphasis on high-quality steaks, patrons can expect an unforgettable dining experience that marries the best of Italian cuisine with the indulgence of a traditional steakhouse.”
The concept is from local restaurant group DBS Hospitality. DBS also operates The James and The Sandwich Bar, both at 1030 S. Broadway Ave.
Opening daily at 4 p.m., Corso Italian Steak will be a dinner destination with “a 100-seat bar, perfect for enjoying pre-dinner cocktails or unwinding with friends after a long day. The spacious 170-seat dining room will provide ample seating for guests to enjoy their meals comfortably, while a private dining area with 50 seats will cater to those seeking a more exclusive experience.”
Creating additional buzz, a 38-seat speakeasy will host guests in the rear of the restaurant. Like other off-the-beaten-path cocktail bars such as Gatsby and Thick as Thieves in downtown Boise, it will have an alley entrance. “This hidden gem will offer a high-end cocktail program,” according to the release, “providing a sophisticated and secretive ambiance for those seeking a touch of mystery and intrigue.”
Corso Italian Steak’s interior will be created by Boise-based The Design House.
DBS Hospitality was founded by local restaurateur Barry Werner and Daryn Colledge, along with Scott Howard, according to the release. Colledge is a former Boise State and NFL football player.
“We are incredibly excited to introduce our Italian steakhouse concept to the Boise community,” the group said in a statement. “We believe that the combination of Italian flavors and techniques with the indulgence of high-quality steaks will create a truly unique and memorable dining experience for our guests.”
