Food Network star Guy Fieri visited Boise. Which restaurants will be on his TV show?
Things are about to get cooking on national TV for Boise’s restaurant scene.
Food Network star Guy Fieri visited recently to film “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” his long-running series. Fieri confirmed it on Instagram with a photo of himself and his son, Ryder.
“Ryder cohosting DDD in Boise today and he did great!” Fieri wrote.
A message to the show’s publicist was not returned, but it appears that at least three restaurants in the Boise area will be featured.
1) Fieri’s Instagram photo was taken at Sunshine Spice Cafe, an Afghan eatery at 6911 W. Fairview Ave., in Boise.
2) Downtown Indian restaurant Taj Mahal, 150 N. 8th St., posted a “Guy ate here” photo on Facebook thanking Fieri and Food Network on Saturday.
3) Also visited, according to the Facebook page of food website Boise’s Best Bites? Argentinian restaurant Tango’s Empanadas.
All three restaurants shuttered last week for unspecified “special events” — an indication that a film crew probably was on location — before reopening.
(Tango’s kept its Boise restaurant operating, but it temporarily shut down its year-old Meridian store at 46 E. Fairview Ave. before returning to action Saturday.)
This isn’t the first time that “Triple D,” as the show is known, has rolled into Idaho. In 2009, Fieri came to Boise and featured several restaurants — some still open, some long gone. They included Bar Gernika, Westside Drive-In, Donn’s Hilltop-Kodiak Grill, Donnie Mac’s Roadside Cuisine, Pizzalchik and Rick’s Press Room.
