If shawarma, kabobs, tabouli and hummus make your mouth water, there’s a new Boise restaurant to try.

Sal’s Howdaj will celebrate its grand opening at 7100 W. Fairview Ave. on Saturday. It shares a building with Adam’s Auto Store, so don’t be confused by the cars for sale outside.

Describing itself as an “authentic Middle Eastern restaurant,” Sal’s is named after local owner Faisal Zaben and his father, Saleh, the chef. The menu includes traditional dishes such as baba ghanoush, chicken shawarma, falafel and lots of other olive-oil-drizzled options. Sal’s also offers sandwiches and salads. Beverages include dried lime tea, fresh lime juice, fresh orange juice and a yogurt drink.

Sal’s Howdaj began serving customers recently on a limited, reservation-only basis. This weekend, the restaurant will open fully for dine-in and takeout.

Everything at Sal’s is “made fresh daily,” according to posts on social media. A handful of reviews of Sal’s already have trickled in on Google. They’re all five stars and filled with praise. “Warm atmosphere,” says one. “Love the food.”

Sal’s hours will be noon to 9 p.m. daily, according to information posted online.

Sal’s Howdaj will open for dine-in and takeout service on Dec. 17.
