This stylish bar and restaurant with ‘one of the best patios in Boise’ plans to close

When Txikiteo opened at the corner of 14th and Idaho streets in 2018, there was lots to like.

It was local. It was Basque-inspired. It had one of the most mispronounced restaurant names around. (Easy! “Chee-kee-tay-o.”)

As a wine bar, there was no denying the small room’s modern elegance. Foodwise? The small bites, charcuterie and sandwiches earned consistently positive reviews.

And since this is Idaho? What did everyone really care about? It has “one of the best patios in Boise!” a commenter exclaimed on Txikiteo’s Facebook page recently.

That’s all coming to an end.

Txikiteo, 175 N. 14th St., will close after a final hurrah on New Year’s Eve.

The tapas and wine destination shared its news online. “The lease on our space in the Watercooler building is up at the end of the year, giving us an opportunity to start thinking about a new year with a new direction,” Txikiteo explained.

Until the lights go dim, Txikiteo will continue to operate from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Need a charcuterie board for a holiday shindig? You can still order one.

But time is short. And that “new direction” isn’t clear.

“Thank you for all your support over the years. It seriously means the world to us,” Txikiteo wrote.

“Watch for updates for our next adventure.”
