Idaho Center Amphitheater unveils first new concert for 2023. This act is ‘exploding’
After a busy, record-setting concert season, the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater is getting a jump on next summer.
Americana and country singer-songwriter Parker McCollum will headline an outdoor show Saturday, July 29, the Nampa venue revealed. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday for $34.50 to $84.50, not including fees, at fordidahocenter.com. Presales kicked off Tuesday. The special guest will be Jackson Dean.
McCollum is the first new show announced for the Idaho Center Amphitheater’s 2023 season. Rock band Matchbox 20, rescheduled twice, already was on the calendar for a June 4 show.
McCollum, 30, is a familiar face to many country fans in the Boise area. Known for country radio hits such as “Pretty Heart” and “To Be Loved By You,” he was the opening act for Thomas Rhett at an October concert at the Idaho Center Amphitheater. That show attracted about 9,000 fans, according to Creston Thornton, president of the mountain region for promoter Live Nation.
McCollum’s star already was beginning to shine by the time he’d joined Rhett’s tour, Thornton explained. “He’s now exploding on his own,” Thornton said, adding that he expects McCollum’s concert to attract 5,000 or more concertgoers.
Country music was a major attraction at the Idaho Center Amphitheater last summer. The season was highlighted by a Morgan Wallen concert in September that set records both for attendance (10,518) and for fastest sellout.
