This Boise restaurant closed fast. It’s reopened with new name, ‘fabulous’ sandwiches

Parkside Market, we hardly knew ya. Green’s Market? Let’s do lunch.

Opened in January on the ground level of the 11th & Idaho building, Parkside quickly drew raves from Boise sandwich aficionados. An Idaho Statesman restaurant review enthusiastically described the creations as “delicious.”

But recently, Parkside closed.

On Oct. 10, it reopened — rebranded as Green’s Market. The space at 1100 W. Idaho St. has been taken over by Anny and Sean Frampton, owners of Green Acres Food Truck Park. The Framptons have partnered in the reincarnated eatery with one of Parkside’s former owners, Colin Ling.

“If people liked Parkside,” Anny Frampton said, “they can expect similar sandwiches.”

Located next to Cherie Buckner-Webb Park, Green’s Market is open from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hours will be lengthened once things are up and running, Frampton said. Online ordering is available at greensmarketboise.com.

The plan is to build on the concept of a market. Green’s not only will sell sandwiches, wraps, soups and salads, but also “fun picnic items like beef jerky, snacks, jams and jellies,” she said. “And then in the future, we hope to expand to breakfast.”

Still, the “fabulous sandwich menu,” as it’s described in a Green Acres Facebook post, will always be the market’s bread and butter.

“We’ve been calling ourselves an upscale fast-casual sandwich shop,” Frampton explained by phone. “Definitely not Subway. We’re using Acme for our bread, Boar’s Head for most of our meats. Some of the cheeses are imported. We make all of our sauces and aiolis in-house.

“The quality of the sandwiches is what we really care about. Each one, you can get it quickly, and each one is done really well. So just consistent, high-quality sandwiches.”

In addition to counter ordering, Green’s Market offers quick lunch items to-go.

The most popular choice is the Turkey and Bacon ($13.90, turkey, avocado, bacon, Gouda cheese, shaved onion, lettuce, tomato, herb aioli, ciabatta). Other tempting options range, price-wise, from the Veggie ($11.25) to a French Dip or Roast Beef ($14.95). Any sandwich can be ordered as a wrap instead. Also, want your sammy toasted? Just ask.

Even after Green Acres Food Truck Park closes for winter this weekend at 1401 Shoreline Drive, the Framptons will have their hands (and plates) full. Anny doesn’t want to overpromise plans at Green’s, she said, but catering is one aspect that they definitely hope to explore.

It seems prudent to take advantage of the location near offices, the workers inside — and any functions in the nearby park.

“We’re downtown, but it’s more in an area that’s being developed,” she said. “It’s great that we’re right next to Cherie Buckner-Webb Park.”
