2. Party with kitty
If you’re a cat lover, you’ll be interested in Operation Community Cats. This Boise nonprofit’s mission is to help lost, abandoned, stray and feral felines. You can help — and drink beer — at the organization’s Festival del Gato, aka Festival of the Cat. The free event is from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Crooked Fence Brewing, 5220 N. Sawyer Ave., in Garden City. It will feature live music from Ted Coe, a silent auction, a taco truck, a candy pinata and lots of feline-friendly folks. One dollar of every beer and wine purchased will go to OCC. Cat food donations to feed hungry outside cats in the community are welcome, too.
3. Hang with moms
UPDATE: This has been postponed.
Calling itself “the original moms’ night out,” the Pump and Dump Show rolls into the Knitting Factory at 8 p.m. Saturday. Led by Amy Albert and Jill Bartlett, the tour includes music, comedy, games, prizes and more. It’s “a parentally incorrect night out for every kind of mom – an irreverent, one-of-a-kind, interactive production designed as the ultimate respite for beleaguered parents everywhere.” Tickets: $30 general, $65 reserved, at TicketWeb.
4. Do the roadster show
Update: This has been canceled.
You know the drill by now, gearheads. After all, this weekend is the 48th annual Boise Roadster Show. It’s got “rods, trucks, street machines, restoreds, customs, bikes,” plus an appearance by Spider-Man on Friday and Saturday. There’s also a 2020 Miss Roadster Show Swimsuit Pageant on Friday night. (Gosh, better sign up here to enter.) The Boise Roadster Show runs from noon to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Expo Idaho, 5610 N. Glenwood St., in Garden City. Cost: $12 general, $11 seniors, $4 children 6-12, free for ages 5 and younger.
5. Check out a new brewery
Bella Brewing is no more. The little-known Garden City taproom has been taken over and rebranded as Loose Screw Beer Co., which already is pouring fresh new beers such as Screw You, Amber! ale. Check out the quirky new vibe at 4340 W. Chinden Blvd., and read about Loose Screw’s plan to expand to Meridian here.
