Nampa limits mass gatherings. Tool show won’t happen at the Idaho Center after all.
The city of Nampa just brought the hammer down on Tool.
Citing guidance recently released from Southwest District Health related to coronavirus precautions, the Nampa City Council approved an emergency resolution Friday affecting two major concert venues. It mandates that “gatherings of 250 people or more for social, entertainment, commercial, recreational or other activities of any kind are prohibited at the Ford Idaho Center and Nampa Civic Center.”
That means Saturday’s concert by heavy metal band Tool — one of the last significant Treasure Valley weekend events not already delayed or canceled — will not happen at the Idaho Center as planned.
The show will be postponed, according to promoter Live Nation, which is working on a new date. For questions about tickets or refunds, go to fordidahocenter.com, ICtickets.com or contact the ICTickets box office at (208) 442-3232.
On Thursday, organizers had said they intended for the show to go on, unless mass gatherings were banned. Between 8,000 and 9,000 fans were expected to attend, most from the Boise area.
The mass-gatherings prohibition in Nampa is in effect now through March 31.
