Mountain View High point guard Destiny Slocum hauled in another honor in her already illustrious career Monday, earning a spot on the Naismith Trophy Girl’s High School All-American second team.

Slocum, who has signed with national power Maryland, capped her high school career by leading the Mavericks to a repeat 5A state championship. She set the 5A state tournament scoring record (28.3 ppg) in February, and averaged 25.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 3.2 steals as a senior.

Slocum, who won a gold medal with Team USA at last summer’s U-19 World Championships in Russia, will play in the McDonald’s All-American Game on March 30 in Chicago.
