6A All-Idaho girls basketball team: The 10 best players in Idaho’s top division
Note: Coaches in each classification select the All-Idaho teams. The Idaho Statesman hosts the voting process and publishes the results.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR: BERKLEY JONES, EAGLE
The pick: The 5-10 junior guard carried the Mustangs to a state title, averaging 22.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. But those totals hide her deadly efficiency: She shot 60% from the floor and 47% on 3-pointers.
Coach’s comment: “Her growth this year as a player, the way she carried our team, and her ability to play any position on the floor shows her versatility and strength,” Eagle coach Jeremy Munroe said.
What others are saying: “(She) seems to come at you in so many different ways: rebounding, back door, fast break sprinting the floor, shooting, scoring around the rim, midrange to post up. As a coach, I had no answers to stop Berkley,” Thunder Ridge coach Chelsie Boyle said.
What’s next: She enters the offseason with 13 Division I offers.
BROOKESLEE COLVIN, COEUR D’ALENE
College programs around the country are chasing the all-class Gatorade player of the year. The junior point guard led all classifications with 30.9 points per game to become the Vikings’ all-time leading scorer. She also led 6A in assists (6.1) and steals (5.4) for the second straight year.
ZOEY BLACKWELL, MIDDLETON
The Wyoming signee makes her second straight first-team appearance while serving as a force all over the floor and the stat sheet. Her gunslinger-quick hands and instincts led to 14.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.1 steals per game while shooting 50% from the floor.
KYA DAVIS, BORAH
The three-year starter and 6-1 junior does everything and anything the Lions need as a versatile weapon. She carried Borah to its second straight 20-win season and state tournament appearance with 14.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.4 blocks per game.
TRINITY HOLSINGER, EAGLE
A former all-state pick at Cole Valley Christian, the Liberty signee sacrificed shots to keep the Mustangs in sync and pick up the toughest defensive assignments. The senior point guard was rewarded with a state title while averaging 10.4 points, 3.9 assists and 1.4 steals.
COACH OF THE YEAR: JEREMY MUNROE, EAGLE
He led the Mustangs (25-2) on a season-ending 12-game winning streak for district and state titles.
