3A All-Idaho girls basketball team | 2023-2024

Note: The All-Idaho teams are chosen by each classification’s coaches. The Idaho Statesman hosts the voting process and publishes the results.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: RYLIE EDLEFSEN, SNAKE RIVER

The pick: Not even a broken hand could stop the senior point guard from repeating as player of the year. She never missed a beat during those nine sidelined games, serving as a coach and cheerleader. She then returned to lead the Panthers to back-to-back state titles, averaging 18.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.5 steals.

Coach’s comment: “I’ve seen kids work hard and put in great time. Then there is Rylie. She loves it, she breathes it and she lives it year-round,” Snake River coach Lincoln Driscoll said.

What others are saying: “She is a leader. She is a competitor. And I have never seen another player play with the heart and fire she does,” Buhl coach Jess Montgomery said.

What’s next: She has committed to play at Northwest Nazarene.

Snake River senior Rylie Edlefsen won the 3A All-Idaho Girls Basketball Player of the Year award for the second straight season. She was chosen in a vote by the state’s coaches.

REESE KUNZ, TETON

The 5-9 senior forward did it all for the Timberwolves. She led Teton in scoring (14.4 ppg) and rebounds (9.2) as the Timberwolves finished second at state, tied for the best in program history. She also added 3.4 assists and 2.5 steals per game.

BRIANNE BAILEY, SOUTH FREMONT

Opponents may have cooked up game plans for the 5-11 junior point guard, but they never found a way to stop her. She recorded 14 double-doubles this season, averaging 19.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 5.0 steals. Weber State has extended an offer.

GRACE HOGAN, TETON

The Timberwolves fielded the 3A classification’s top offense at 61 points per game. That was due in no small part to their 5-7 senior point guard. She led 3A with 5.6 assists a night, creating a litany of open shots for teammates. She also averaged 10.5 points and 3.3 steals.

HAZEL FISCHER, FILER

Rebounds go to the player who wants it most. Rarely was that someone other than the Wildcats’ 5-10 senior forward. Her nonstop motor made her a monster on the boards. She racked up 12.1 points and 9.1 rebounds a night to lead Filer to the state consolation trophy.

COACH OF THE YEAR: PAT HOGAN, TETON

He led the Timberwolves to a 24-2 record and their second state finals appearance in program history.
