2A All-Idaho softball team: The biggest talents from the state’s smallest schools

Note: The All-Idaho teams are chosen by each classification’s coaches. The Idaho Statesman hosts the voting process and publishes the results.

IDAHO 2A SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Charlee Stewart

Glenns Ferry, fr., P/RF

The freshman grew stronger as the season wore on, stepping up in the biggest games to propel the Pilots to a state title. She led the classification in innings pitched (116 ⅔), wins (16-5), ERA (2.22) and strikeouts (193), and at the plate she hit .250 with 15 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.

IDAHO 2A SOFTBALL COACH OF THE YEAR

Cody Fisher

Glenns Ferry

The first-year coach led the Pilots (21-6-1) to their second state title, topping defending champ Potlatch twice for the trophy.

IDAHO 2A SOFTBALL ALL-STATE FIRST TEAM

Daycee Fry

Potlatch, fr., LF/P

The freshman did it all for the Loggers, hitting .589 with 23 RBIs and 43 stolen bases. She also posted a 4.62 ERA in 53 innings.

Evalie Schuster

Clearwater Valley, jr., C

When she wasn’t gunning down runners from her knees, she hit .481 and got on base at a .682 clip with 27 RBIs and 18 stolen bases.

Gracie Schuster

Clearwater Valley, sr., 3B/P

The smooth fielder at the hot corner was also an aggressive baserunner, hitting .467 with 21 stolen bases and 31 runs scored.

Peyton Stewart

Glenns Ferry, jr., C/P

Last year’s second-team pick remained a brick wall with a commanding presence. She hit .507 with three home runs, 30 RBIs and 27 stolen bases.

Jesse Rice

Clearwater Valley, so., CF/C

Her speed in the outfield robbed extra-base hits and allowed the slap hitter to finish with a .460 average, 44 runs and 37 stolen bases.

Rylie Baysinger

Genesee, sr., C

The third-place finisher’s captain and unquestioned leader hit .463 with 32 RBIs while anchoring the team behind the plate.

Kimber Jones

Horseshoe Bend, jr., P/C

She led 2A in slugging percentage (1.031) and RBIs (38) while going 11-2 with a 4.79 ERA inside the pitcher’s circle.

Tessa Bryan

Greenleaf, jr., P/1B

She posted 2A’s best batting average (.622) while stealing 56 bases and going 7-10 with a 3.50 ERA as the Grizzlies’ ace.

Olivia Smith

Potlatch, jr., C

The slap hitter finished with a .443 average and often stole her way around the bases, swiping 45 bags and finishing with 46 runs.

Madison Fisher

Glenns Ferry, so., 3B/UTIL

The state champs’ leadoff hitter posted a .570 on-base percentage, scored 46 runs and stole 35 bases while playing all over the field.

Reese Lusby

Potlatch, jr., SS

A force in the middle of the infield, she also led 2A in hits (42) to finish with a .545 average, 30 RBIs and 41 stolen bases.
