6A All-Idaho softball team: The best players from the state’s best division

IDAHO 6A SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Hailey Brennan
Owyhee, jr., P/UTIL
The Boise State commit dominated again, leading all divisions in ERA (0.41) and batting average against (.062) for the third straight year. She tossed six no-hitters and a perfect game to go 17-0 with 16.3 Ks per seven innings, another all-class leading number. She also hit .489 with six homers and 31 RBIs.

The first-year coach led the Mustangs (23-8-1) to a 6A SIC regular-season title and runner-up finishes at district and state.

McKenna Chavez
Capital, sr., SS
A four-time first-team pick, the BYU signee led all divisions in slugging (1.795) while topping 6A in average (.685), home runs (22) and runs (71).
Ellie McManigal
Eagle, sr., SS/C
The Colorado State signee’s range, instincts and glove robbed hits all season, and she hit .522 with 17 home runs and 59 RBIs.
Reece Bybee
Highland, sr., CF/SS
The Utah Tech signee topped 6A with 42 stolen bases in 43 attempts. She also hit .678 with eight home runs, 47 RBIs and 64 runs.
Peyton Bargen
Eagle, sr., P/CF
The Idaho State signee led 6A in innings (106 ⅔), going 15-5 with a 2.97 ERA while hitting .518 with nine homers and 32 RBIs.
Hailey Bock
Owyhee, so., P/LF
A repeat first-team pick, she tossed a pair of no-hitters to go 13-1 with a 1.90 ERA. She also hit .471 with six home runs and 32 RBIs.
Makenzie Owens
Eagle, sr., 3B/C
The tough-as-nails Colorado Mesa commit manned the hot corner while hitting .495 with 11 home runs and 51 RBIs.
Zoey Sorg
Thunder Ridge, so., 3B/SS
The reliable sophomore played well beyond her years, hitting .594 and slugging 1.321, with 13 home runs and 55 RBIs.
Jenna Davenport
Coeur d’Alene, jr., P/2B
The Biola (NCAA Division II) commit and IEL MVP went 10-2 with a 2.62 ERA. She also hit .544 with seven homers and 35 RBIs.
Kamryn Newbery
Boise, so., SS/C
She missed the first seven games with a knee injury and still cranked 15 home runs, hitting .511 and slugging 1.660.
Alyssa Orchard
Eagle, sr., LF/RF
The 5-foot-3 outfielder came up with clutch hits over and over again for the Mustangs, finishing the year with a .501 average and 33 RBIs.
Madalynn Mahaffey
Owyhee, so., 1B
The state champs’ cleanup hitter anchored the Storm lineup, hitting .495 while leading the team in home runs (nine) and RBIs (45).
