BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jack Booth, Owyhee: Went 4-for-8 with a triple and six RBIs to lead the Storm to their fourth state championship in the past five years.
Caleb Zawadzki, Eagle: Went 8-for-12 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Mustangs to a second-place trophy at the 6A state tournament.
Ryan Yesford, Mountain View: Tossed a complete-game victory, holding Eagle to two runs on six hits with a career-high eight strikeouts. He also went 5-for-10 with a double and four RBIs as the Mavericks finished third at the 6A state tournament.
DJ Brokaw, Middleton: Went 3-for-6 with a double and an RBI as the Vikings finished fourth at the 6A state tournament.
Tyler Russell, Skyview: Went 7-for-14 with two doubles and seven RBIs to lead the Hawks to a runner-up finish at the 5A state tournament.
Mason Taylor, Homedale: Threw an eight-hit shutout and struck out seven in a 3-0 win over Marsh Valley. He also went 6-for-12 with three RBIs to lead the Trojans to the 4A state title.
Titus Vidlak, Fruitland: Went 7-for-14 with a double, a triple, six RBIs and eight stolen bases to lead the Grizzlies to a second-place trophy at the 4A state tournament.
Carson Kile, Cole Valley Christian: Hit a two-run home run and finished 1-for-4 in two games as the Chargers brought back to the fourth-place trophy from the 4A state tournament. He also tossed seven innings for a no decision while allowing two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts.
Cooper Brooks, Melba: Took a hard-luck, complete-game loss while allowing two unearned runs on one hit while striking out eight. He also went 3-for-9 with a triple and two RBIs as the Mustangs brought home the third-place trophy from the 3A state tournament.
Jacob Jones, North Star Charter: Went 4-for-7 with a double and an RBI as the Huskies finished fourth at the 2A state tournament.
