Nominations are submitted by area coaches or taken from stats reported to the Idaho Statesman.
GIRLS TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Leah Ray, Victory Charter: Set a pair of school records in winning the 400 (59.45) and 100 hurdles (15.73), and ran a leg on the Vipers’ runner-up 4x400 relay (4:40.25) at the Nampa City Championships at Columbia High.
Katie Oostra, Centennial Baptist: Ran personal bests in the 100 hurdles (19.74) and 300 hurdles (54.61), and logged a distance of 79-6 in the javelin at the Knight Invite at Bishop Kelly High.
Christine Huckins, Capital: Took over the top times in the state in the 100 (11.69) and 200 (24.23), and ran a leg on the Eagles’ winning 4x400 relay (4:02.72) at the Thunder Invite at Eagle High.
Hallie Heemeyer, Rocky Mountain: Set personal bests in the winning the 800 (2:12.46) and 1,600 (4:46.99), and ran a leg on the Grizzlies’ third-place 4x400 relay (4:02.44) at the Pasco Invite. Her 1,600 time is tops in the state.
Kami Clayton, Mountain View: Threw a personal best — and the state’s best mark — in the shot put with a throw of 43-5.5 and won the discus (110-0) at a tri-meet at Centennial High.
Lilli Denhardt, Owyhee: Ran a personal-best 57.61 to win the 400, placed second in the 100 (12.33) and ran a leg on the Storm’s winning 4x100 relay (50.66) at the Thunder Invite at Eagle High.
Audrey Orme, Boise: Set personal records in winning the 800 (2:14.38) and 3,200 (10:38.95) at the Thunder Invite at Eagle High.
Claire Matthews, Weiser: Won three events at the Middleton Invite, claiming the 800 (2:26.53), 1,600 ( 5:31.50) and running a leg on the Wolverines’ medley relay (1:59.04). She also placed second in the 3,200 (11:49.10).
Lily Yeakley, Parma: Took first place in the 100 (12.39), 200 (25.61) and long jump (16-10.5) at the Middleton Invite. She was also part of the Panthers’ third-place 4x200 relay (1:57.75).
Addi Richards, Emmett: Won the 200 (26.75), pole vault (11-6) and ran a leg on the Huskies’ winning 4x100 relay (50.75) at the Knight Invite at Bishop Kelly. She also placed third in the 100 (12.83).
BOYS TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jakobe Davis, Vallivue: Improved on his state-leading time in the 400, clocking a 47.03, and also ran a leg on the Falcons’ winning 4x400 relay (3:31.11) at the Knight Invite at Bishop Kelly. He also placed third in the 100 (11.15).
Noah Fisher, Owyhee: Ran the second-fastest 300 hurdles time in the state this season to win the event in 38.72 at the Thunder Invite at Eagle High. He also placed third in the 110 hurdles (14.73).
Hyrum Tuft, Rocky Mountain: Ran a personal-best 9:13.90 to win the 3,200 at the 45-team Pasco Invite in Washington.
Simon Bonavia, Eagle: Posted personal-bests in winning the 100 (10.93) and 200 (22.15) at the Thunder Invite at Eagle High. He also ran a leg on the Mustangs’ runner-up 4x200 relay (1:31.42).
Waylon Legler, Capital: Swept the shot put (55-1) and discus (153-6) at the Thunder Invite at Eagle High.
Ethan Minegar, Cole Valley Christian: Took first in the 200 (22.29), 4x100 relay (43.47) and 4x200 relay (1:32.78) at the Knight Invite at Bishop Kelly High. He also placed second in the 100 (11.09).
Romeo Godina, Nampa: Set personal-bests in winning the 100 (11.18), 200 (22.78) and long jump (19-10.5) at the Nampa City Championships at Columbia High. He also won the triple jump (38-5).
Carson Hacking, Columbia: Won the 800 (2:02.41) and 1,600 (4:48.11) and ran a leg on the Wildcats’ first-place medley relay (3:53.13) at the Nampa City Championships.
Howie Huffman, Boise: Placed first in the 3,200 in a personal-best 9:41.40 and also took third in the 800 in another personal record of 1:58.53 at the Thunder Invite at Eagle High.
Charlie Speirs, McCall-Donnelly: Established a personal best in winning the 3,200 in 9:35.04 at the DirectCom Invitational at Idaho State in Pocatello.
