Help us choose the best of the best in the latest Idaho Statesman baseball player of the week contest.

Polls close at noon Wednesday. Read about all the candidates and their accomplishments below.

You can vote multiple times. This is meant to be a fun way to show support for athletes. This is not meant to be scientific.

Nominations are submitted by area coaches or taken from stats reported to the Idaho Statesman.

BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Brody Newbery, Boise: Went 7-for-13 with a double, a triple, a grand slam and nine RBIs in five games.

Matt Romero, Centennial: Threw five innings for the win over Lake City, holding the Timberwolves to two unearned runs on five hits with six strikeouts. He also went 7-for-9 at the plate in three games.

Cooper Schneidt, Mountain View: Went 8-for-17 with a triple and 11 RBIs to lead the Mavericks to a 5-0 record last week.

Hudson Hays, Capital: Threw a five-inning, two-hit shutout and struck out seven in a 10-0 win over Jerome. He also went 6-for-11 at the plate with three RBIs and four stolen bases.

Bergan Overall, Kuna: Went 7-for-12 with a double and six RBIs in five games. He also threw a five-inning, two-hit shutout while striking out six against Sahuaro, Arizona.

Isaac Farrel, Vallivue: Pitched a complete-game, five-hit shutout and struck out eight in a 1-0 victory against Timberlake.

Carson Fine, Homedale: Went 7-for-17 with a double, a home run, seven RBIs and six stolen bases to lead the Trojans to a 5-1 record last week.

Carson Kile, Cole Valley Christian: Threw a five-inning no-hitter and struck out six in a 16-0 win over Weiser.

Blayk Cockerum, New Plymouth: Went 1-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored in two games. He also drew five walks and stole two bases in 17 plate appearances.

Cooper Brooks, Melba: Went 5-for-7 with two doubles, a triple, a home run and seven RBIs in three wins for the Mustangs.
