2A All-Idaho baseball team: The biggest talents from the state’s smallest schools

2A BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Makhi Durrett
Troy, sr., C/3B
The Shoreline CC commit did it all for the Trojans, hitting for average (.556) and power (.972). He drove in 35 runs, stole 33 bases and scored 40 runs to lead Troy to a third-place trophy. His strong arm and quick pop time also shut down other teams’ running games.

He led the young Tigers (21-5) to their first state title since 2007, completing Kendrick’s sweep of football, basketball and baseball titles.
ALL-STATE FIRST TEAM
Dominic Holden
Troy, sr., P/SS
A four-time all-state pick, the Spokane Falls CC commit posted a 1.64 ERA and led all divisions in strikeouts (112) and on-base percentage (.733).
Cole Young
North Star Charter, sr., P/1B
The all-class leader in strikeout rate (16.8 per seven innings) also led 2A in batting average (.565), slugging (1.058) and RBIs (43).
Barak Meyer
Clearwater Valley, jr., 1B/P
The first-time pitcher recorded a 2.65 ERA in 34 ⅓ innings while leading the classification in hits (43), doubles (12) and runs scored (52).
Hudson Kirkland
Kendrick, fr., P/1B
The state champs’ ace shut down opponents, limiting them to a .158 average to go 2-0 with a 2.59 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 27 innings.
Jameson Morris
Potlatch, jr., P/SS
The defending state player of the year put up a 1.72 ERA with 79 strikeouts while leading 2A in wins (6-2), innings (57) and complete games (five)
Alan Mesillas
Glenns Ferry, sr., P/CF
The right-handed strikeout machine sat down 102 in 52 ⅔ innings, going 5-2 with a 2.66 ERA. He also hit .379 and stole 52 bases.
Bryce Sterling
Glenns Ferry, sr., SS/C
He led all divisions with 55 stolen bases in 58 attempts. But he wasn’t just a one-trick pony, posting a slash line of .446/.604/.785 with 28 RBIs.
Jace Irwin
North Star Charter, jr., SS/2B
The strong-armed middle infielder found a groove during the postseason, finishing the year hitting .549 with an .817 slugging percentage.
Logan Carpenter
Potlatch, sr., P/CF
He posted 2A’s best ERA (0.79), going 5-0 and holding opponents to a .130 average for the state runner-up. He also hit .462 and drove in 20 runs.
Waylan Marshall
Potlatch, sr., 2B
The middle infielder provided plenty of pop for the Loggers, cranking a 2A-leading five home runs while hitting .415 with 20 RBIs.
Junior Sanchez
Glenns Ferry, sr., 3B/P
A jack of all trades, he hit .431 with 22 RBIs and 34 stolen bases as 13-of-25 hits went from extra bases. He also went 4-3 with a 3.41 ERA.
