Treasure Valley boys, girls soccer players of the week (Oct. 16 to 22)

GIRLS SOCCER

Ashlyn Fuss, Owyhee: Didn’t allow a single goal and made 21 saves in 280 minutes to lead the Storm to the 5A state title.

Grace Hatch, Boise: Finished with one goal and two assists to help lead the Brave to a second-place finish at the 5A state tournament.

Katherine Southard, Eagle: Made 17 saves and posted two shutouts to lead the Mustangs to the third-place trophy at the 5A state tournament.

Zoey Jones, Mountain View: Scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Highland in the 5A state consolation final. She also had the assist on the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory vs. Lake City in the consolation semifinals.

Sophie Schmautz, Bishop Kelly: Racked up four goals and an assist to lead the Knights to the runner-up trophy at the 4A state tournament.

BOYS SOCCER

Zach Taylor, Timberline: Scored all five goals for the Wolves as they won their third straight 5A state championship. That included a hat trick in the finals and a golden goal in the first round.

Rylan McPherson, Rocky Mountain: Scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute of a 2-1 victory over Eagle in the 5A state semifinals. He also had a goal and an assist in the final 10 minutes of a 2-0 win vs. Lake City in the first round.

Baraka Dayi, Boise: Netted a hat trick in the final two minutes of the 5A third-place game, leading the Brave to a 4-1 win over Eagle. He also had a goal and an assist in 2-1, double-overtime win against Centennial in the first round.

Justin McGrew, Bishop Kelly: Stopped 16 shots and didn’t allow a single goal through 260 minutes to lead the Knights to the third-place trophy from the 4A state tournament.
