Prep recap: Two Mountain View pitchers throw shutout. Eagle wins on 10th-inning walk-off
The Mountain View High baseball team may not have much to play for down the homestretch of the regular season. But that doesn’t mean the Mavericks are slowing down.
Blake Logsdon and Evan Perry combined to throw a five-hit shutout Wednesday, leading Mountain View to a 3-0 victory over Owyhee — its 16th in the past 17 games.
The Mavericks (17-3, 14-1 5A SIC) had already clinched a state tournament berth, a 5A SIC regular-season title and a spot in the 5A District Three championship series after a 12-0 rout of Kuna on Tuesday. But they maintained their momentum Wednesday with nearly two weeks until their next meaningful games in the district championship series.
Mountain View struck in the bottom of the first inning when Coy Clements brought in Logan Burrell on a sacrifice fly. That proved to be all Mountain View needed, but it tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning on a Ben Stookey RBI double and Max Martinez’s run-scoring single.
Logsdon held the Storm (13-9, 8-7) to one hit through three innings to earn the win. Perry then scattered four hits over the final four innings while striking out four.
