Winner of the Treasure Valley softball player of the week contest (April 11 to 17)

Voting has closed in the latest Treasure Valley Athletes of the Week contests.

Here are the winners. You can read about all the candidates and their accomplishments below.

  • Softball: Mekhia Wagner, Cole Valley Christian

Softball

Lizzy Tommasini, Eagle: The Mustangs knocked off Mountain View 4-1 as Tommasini pitched five shutout innings, allowing just two hits with eight strikeouts.

McKenna Schab, Owyhee: The freshman batted a team-leading .667 (2-for-3) with two RBIs to lead the Storm to a 12-4 victory over Eagle. Schab also went a perfect 5-for-5 on putouts.

Rayann Brown, Skyview: The junior helped the Hawks stay unbeaten with wins over Capital, Borah and Centennial. Brown went 8-for-13 in the three games with six RBIs, one home run, three doubles and a triple.

Abi Robinson, New Plymouth: The Pilgrims edged Cole Valley Christian 12-11 in eight innings as Robinson went 4-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles and four RBIs.

Kenzie Shaffer, Melba: Trailing by one run in the bottom of the seventh, the Mustangs rallied for a 12-11 win over Nampa Christian. Shaffer finished 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and a home run.

Allie Laufenburger, Capital: Hit a home run in a near upset of unbeaten Skyview and added a 3-for-4 performance with one home run and two RBIs in a 12-1 win over Timberline. She finished 5-for-7 for the week.

Regan Birt, Boise: Batted 5-for-7 in two games, including a two-out, bases-loaded walkoff single to lift the Braves to a 7-6 victory over Kuna.

Mekhia Wagner, Cole Valley Christian: In three games last week, she batted .818 (9-for-11) with an on-base percentage of .833 to go with eight runs scored and five RBIs.
