Winners of the Treasure Valley athlete of the week contests (March 14 to 20)

Voting has closed in the latest Treasure Valley Athletes of the Week contest.

Here are the winners. You can read about all the candidates and their accomplishments below.

  • Baseball: Teagan Kinney, Marsing
  • Softball: Talia Jenkins, Kuna
  • Boys track: Tyler Sainsbury, Rocky Mountain
  • Girls track: Sophia Clark, Boise

BASEBALL

Teagan Kinney, Marsing: The freshman led the Huskies to a 5-0 week by going 7-for-14 with eight runs, eight stolen bases and 10 runs scored. He also threw five shutout innings, allowing one hit while striking out eight.

Kason O’Neil, Kuna: Went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in 10-0 win vs. Owyhee. He also struck out four in 1 ⅔ innings to finish a combined no-hitter.

Zach Arnold, Fruitland: Delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Grizzlies to a come-from-behind, 11-10 victory vs. Firth.

Jacob Scott, Nampa: Hit a two-run, walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to lead the Bulldogs to a 4-3 win over Caldwell in their 4A SIC opener.

Colin Dempsey, Bishop Kelly: Fell one out shy of a complete game shutout in the Knights 10-0, five-inning win over Middleton. He went 4 ⅔ innings, scattering four hits and striking out four.

Caden Campa, Columbia: Tripled twice and drove in five runs to lead the Wildcats to a 12-4 win over Ridgevue in their 4A SIC opener.

Cody Liebschwager, Homedale: Hit a two-run home run and drove in four runs during a 16-6 victory at New Plymouth.

Conor Christiansen, Rocky Mountain: Went 4-for-4 with a double, a triple and six RBIs in an 18-1 victory at Centennial.

Robert Orloski, Middleton: Struck out 11 while holding Eagle to one run on three hits through 5 ⅔ innings in a 4-1 victory over one of the top 5A SIC contenders.

SOFTBALL

Analisa Zamora, Skyview: Homered twice against both Meridian and Nampa, finishing the week 9-for-19 with 18 RBIs.

Kaysie Jolley, Bishop Kelly: Hit two home runs and drove in five runs during the Knights’ 19-2 win over Middleton to open 4A SIC play.

Talia Jenkins, Kuna: Delivered a two-run, walk-off single to lead the Kavemen to a 6-5 victory over Owyhee. She also homered and drove in three runs in a 19-1 win vs. Columbia.

Emily Zavala, Melba: Went 5-for-8 with a grand slam, a two-run home run and 10 RBIs to lead the Mustangs to three wins.

Kylie Yanzuk, Emmett: Finished the week 9-for-11 with a double, a home run and nine RBIs to lead the Huskies to three wins.

Brooke Garman, Vallivue: Went 12-for-21 with six doubles, two triples and a home run in six games.

Amber Thornton, Timberline: Struck out 13 in a complete-game victory, and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead the Wolves to a 6-5 win over Eagle.

Allie Laufenburger, Capital: Went 5-for-5 with a double, a home run and six RBIs in a 16-6 victory over Centennial.

BOYS TRACK

McKoy Richardson, Melba: Won the long jump (21 feet, 9 inches), 300 hurdles (41.57 seconds) and anchored the winning 4x400-meter relay (3:38.61) at the New Plymouth Spring Opener.

Koby Rivas, Meadows Valley: Cleared 6 feet in the high jump at the New Plymouth Spring Opener, the top mark at the 1A level this season.

Tanner Beltz-Childs, Victory Charter: Won the shot put at the New Plymouth Spring Opener with a throw of 40-6, a personal record by 15 feet. He also was third in the discus at 119-10, a personal record by 9-10.

Jacob Webster, Centennial: Ranks second in the state in the 200 (22.21) and third in the 100 (10.98) after a pair of personal records in a dual with Boise.

Tyler Sainsbury, Rocky Mountain: Ran the fastest 1,600 in the state at 4:20.30 to win a quad meet with Meridian, Owyhee and Timberline.

Landon Helms, Emmett: Set a personal record to run the fastest 110 hurdles in Idaho at 14.38 seconds at Columbia.

Seth Nelson, Boise: Cleared 15-3 in the pole vault in a dual with Centennial, the best mark in Idaho so far and a personal record.

Cole Miller, Bishop Kelly: Uncorked a triple jump of 46-3 in a home quad meet, the longest in Idaho this season and a personal record.

GIRLS TRACK

Lydia Lindsey, Fruitland: The freshman made a splash in her first meet, clearing 5 feet, 4 inches in the high jump. That’s the top mark in Idaho this season and three inches off the school record. She also won the 100 at 13.09 seconds, the top 3A time this season.

Sophia Clark, Boise: The sophomore ran the fastest 100 meters (12.55 seconds), the third-fastest 200 (26.31) and ran a leg of the best 4x400 (4:08.73) in Idaho this year in a dual with Centennial.

Maggie Shirazi, Capital: Turned in the fastest 300 hurdles in the state this season at 47.41 seconds in a dual with Kuna.

Jacoba Luteyn, Bishop Kelly: Her discus throw of 138-6 is by far the best in Idaho this spring, 8 feet, 7 inches ahead of the next closest.

Kendall Clark, Melba: Won the triple jump at the New Plymouth Spring Opener at 36-6, the best mark in all classifications so far this season.
