Winners of the Treasure Valley athletes of the week contest (Sept. 14 to 20)
Voting has closed in the latest Treasure Valley Athletes of the Week contest sponsored by Edmark Toyota.
Here are the winners. You can read about all the candidates and their accomplishments below.
- Football: Carter Menchaca, Ridgevue
- Volleyball: Katie Compas, Parma
- Boys soccer: Raoul Barragan, Vallivue
- Girls soccer: Sara Sabala, Bishop Kelly
- Cross country: Emma Hollon, Tri-Valley
FOOTBALL
Matt Davis, Columbia: The sophomore quarterback racked up 210 total yards and three TDs in the Wildcats 41-0 win over Caldwell. He ran for 111 yards and three TDs on 10 carries. He also completed 12-of-18 passes for 99 yards.
Westyn Smith, Emmett: The senior totaled 297 all-purpose yards and three TDs in the Huskies’ 49-28 win over Ridgevue. He ran for 150 yards and two TDs. He had 62 yards receiving. And he returned a kickoff 85 yards for another score.
Max Lehman, Rocky Mountain: The senior ran for 220 yards and two TDs on 28 carries in the No. 2-ranked Grizzlies’ 22-15 win over rival and No. 4-ranked Eagle. He’s averaging 9.3 yards per carry so far after missing all of last year with a torn ACL.
Seth Knothe, Bishop Kelly: The junior ran for 170 yards and three TDs on 23 carries to lead the Knights to a 42-13 win over Nampa.
Carter Menchaca, Ridgevue: The senior did it all for the Warhawks, racking up 291 all-purpose yards, two TDs and eight tackles in a loss at Emmett. He caught six passes for 149 yards and two TDs. He ran five times for 32 yards. And he returned five kickoffs for 110 yards.
Clayton Franssen, Skyview: The dual-threat QB finished with 371 total yards and seven TDs in the Hawks’ 49-21 win over Boise. He completed 16-of-24 passes for 283 yards and five TDs, adding 88 yards and two TDs on the ground.
Sean Austin, Kuna: The senior QB completed 17-of-24 passes for 275 yards and five TDs in the Kavemen’s 48-8 win over Centennial.

VOLLEYBALL
Audrah Radford, Nampa: The junior tallied 19 kills and 19 digs in a three-set sweep of Emmett to open the season.
Alex Tinsley, Nampa Christian: The junior setter racked up 62 assists, seven aces and 14 kills in league victories over Cole Valley Christian and New Plymouth.
Carissa Chainey, Middleton: The senior led the Vikings to a five-set win over Ridgevue with 20 kills, six digs and three aces.
Gracie Wilkerson, Emmett: The junior team captain registered 11 kills, 11 digs and three aces in a loss to Nampa.
Olivia Fisk, Greenleaf: The senior captain and libero led her team’s defense in two matches with a combined 17 digs and an 85% or better reception rate. She also had three aces and 20 service points for the week.
Annelie Wilson, Horseshoe Bend: The freshman middle blocker racked up 77 kills, 61 digs, 14 aces and nine blocks during two conference matches and a tournament in Parma.
Katie Compas, Parma: The junior finished two league matches and the Parma tournament with 111 assists, 25 digs, 21 kills, nine blocks and eight aces, allowing the Panthers to improve to 8-0. Parma won the gold bracket of the tournament.
Bailey Frates, New Plymouth: The senior finished two matches with a serving percent of 91%, 12 assists, three digs and two aces.
Skylar Erickson, Vallivue: The junior racked up 46 kills, 49 digs, nine aces and three assists this week to lead the Falcons to a second-place finish at the Parma tournament.

BOYS SOCCER
Colton Crawford, Bishop Kelly: The junior scored twice and had an assist in a 5-3 win vs. defending state champ Caldwell. He then added two assists in a 5-1 win over Vallivue.
Jose Rodriguez, Columbia: The junior captain netted two goals and an assist to lead the Wildcats to a 5-1 win over Nampa.
Roark Looney, Centennial: The senior and four-year starter stopped four shots to post his second shutout of the young season in a 4-0 win over Meridian.
Brian Ramirez, Fruitland: The junior scored both of his team’s goals in a 6-2 loss to McCall-Donnelly.
Raoul Barragan, Vallivue: The senior netted a hat trick and added an assist in an 8-0 win over Nampa.

GIRLS SOCCER
Logan Smith, Boise: The junior opened the season with three goals in two Brave victories. She scored the opening goal of the season and drew a penalty kick that led to Boise’s go-ahead goal. She then added two goals in less than 30 minutes against Capital.
Sara Sabala, Bishop Kelly: She scored twice and added an assist in the Knights’ 10-1 rout of Caldwell in both teams’ season opener.
Violet Rademacher, Rocky Mountain: The junior netted two goals and two assists in the Grizzlies’ 13-0 win over Meridian.

CROSS COUNTRY
Nathan Green, Borah: In his first race since February, the senior won a dual with Capital in 14 minutes, 49.5 seconds, which is the best time in Idaho this season.
Ian Stockett, Victory Charter: The sophomore scored his second win of the season with a first-place finish in the boys’ race at the Cambridge Mink Ranch Invite in 16:34.9.
Emma Hollon, Tri-Valley: The senior won her home meet (Cambridge Mink Ranch Invite) in 22:33.2.
