Mountain View’s Lexy Halladay is Idaho’s most decorated Gatorade runner of the year
Mountain View High graduate Lexy Halladay is now Idaho’s most decorated Gatorade runner of the year.
On Thursday, the BYU signee was named the Gatorade Idaho Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year for the third time in her career. It was also the fifth time Gatorade has named her the state’s top runner.
Halladay was the state’s top girls track and field athlete as a freshman in 2016-17 and again in 2018-19 after sweeping the 800- 1,600- and 3,200-meter races at the 5A state track meet. She was Gatorade’s top cross country runner in the state as a freshman and sophomore.
She finished her high school career with state championships in 10 events and three team titles. Halladay is Idaho’s first three-time girls track and field athlete of the year, and she holds state meet records in the 1,600 (4:43.74) and 3,200 (10:30.80). She also set cross country course records at Eagle Island State Park, Portneuf Wellness Complex and Lewiston Orchards.
On June 12, Halladay finished third in the elite girls 1,600 race at the Desert Dream-Last Hurrah Track & Field Invitational in San Tan Valley, Arizona.
She is now a finalist for the Gatorade National Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year award, which is expected be announced this month.
