Winners of the Treasure Valley athletes of the week (Dec. 9 to Dec. 14)

Voting has closed in the latest Treasure Valley Athletes of the Week contest sponsored by Edmark Toyota.

Here are the winners. You can read about all the candidates and their accomplishments below.

  • Girls basketball: Naya Ojukwu, Mountain View
  • Boys basketball: Mathew Flake, Ridgevue
  • Wrestling: Kaden Hine, Rocky Mountain

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Maddie Cook, Cole Valley Christian: The senior totaled 13 points, six rebounds and five blocks last week.

Desirae Kingery, Cole Valley Christian: The junior racked up 11 points, six rebounds and six steals last week.

Sintia Varela, Rimrock: The junior averaged 22.3 points over three games for the Raiders. She scored 36 of the team’s 55 points in one game.

Naya Ojukwu, Mountain View: The sophomore erupted for 30 points, seven rebounds, four steals and two blocks in a 64-54 win over Eagle. She also added 22 points and four rebounds in a 75-42 win vs. Centennial.

Kate Clark, Melba: The junior poured in 23 points and added four rebounds to lead the Mustangs to a 57-33 league victory over McCall-Donnelly.

Ava Ranson, Timberline: The Montana State-bound senior dropped 25 points on Boise to hand the Brave their first 5A SIC loss of the season (48-32). She also added 16 points, three assists and three steals in a 36-24 win over Borah.

Gemma LaVergne, Emmett: The senior scored 20 points and added eight rebounds and six steals to lead the Huskies to a 49-41 win over Vallivue.

Jada Reed, Rocky Mountain: The senior racked up 23 points, six rebounds and two assists to carry the Grizzlies to a 61-53 win over Centennial.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Donavon Estrada, Nampa: The senior led the Bulldogs to wins over Ridgevue, Emmett and Vallivue. He scored 22 points and blocked six shots vs. Emmett, then added 24 against Vallivue.

Xzavier Perry, Vision Charter: The senior scored 25 of his team’s 39 points in a 39-34, overtime victory against Gem State Academy.

Tyler Robinett, Middleton: The senior averaged 24.3 points and 11.6 rebounds to lead the Vikings to a second-place finish at the Preston Invite. That included 17 points and 15 rebounds to snap Preston’s 30-game home winning streak.

Tanner Hayhurst, Eagle: The senior had 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists while shooting 54 percent from the floor in a 65-38 win over Capital. He also had a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds in a 38-34 loss to Borah.

Covy Kelly, Garden Valley: The junior poured in 31 points while shooting 67 percent from the floor in an 83-64 win over Raft River. He also added five rebounds, five assists, five steals and four blocks in the game.

Mathew Flake, Ridgevue: The senior followed up 19-point, five-rebound performance on Tuesday with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds on Thursday.

Austin Bolt, Borah: The senior recorded another double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lions to a 38-34 win over Eagle.

Bayler Perrin, Mountain View: The sophomore scored 29 points off the bench to lead the Mavericks to a 78-67 victory over Skyview. He shot 7-of-11 from the floor and 10-of-11 at the free-throw line.

WRESTLING

Payton Lanningham, Columbia: The senior pinned her way to a 4-0 record and a 152-pound title at the Tough as Nails girls tournament at Capital, leading the Wildcats to a team title. She remains undefeated on the season and has pinned every opponent.

Kaden Hine, Rocky Mountain: The senior rolled through the 138-pound bracket at the Tim Matthews Invite in Jerome, going 4-0 to win a title.

Hunter Beus, New Plymouth: The senior won the 160-pound division at the Calhoun Classic in Nyssa, Ore., to remain undefeated on the season.
