Winners of the Treasure Valley athletes of the week (Dec. 2 to Dec. 8)

Voting has closed for our latest Treasure Valley Athlete of the Week contest sponsored by Edmark Toyota.

Here are the winners, and you can read about all the candidates and their accomplishments below.

  • Girls basketball: Jade Martinez, Caldwell
  • Boys basketball: Michael Onaindia, Cascade
  • Wrestling: Kyle Austin, Middleton

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Audrah Radford, Nampa: The sophomore forward averaged 15.5 points. 5.5 rebounds, two blocks and one assist to lead the Bulldogs to a pair of 4A SIC victories last week over Vallivue and Columbia.

Jasmyne Boles, Vallivue: The senior point guard racked up 20 points, 25 rebounds and three steals for the Falcons in a pair of games last week.

Jade Martinez, Caldwell: The senior point guard averaged 18.3 points, five steals, four rebounds and 3.5 assists for the Cougars last week.

Peyton McFarland, Boise: The senior center posted a double-double of 25 points and 16 rebounds as the Brave knocked off Mountain View 54-51 on the Mavericks’ home floor. She averaged 18 points and 9.7 rebounds in three wins.

Kortney Trappett, Melba: The senior guard racked up 20 points, five rebounds and three steals to lead the Mustangs to a 60-50 win over 3A power Parma.

Ella de Jong, Nampa Christian: The senior erupted for 26 points to lead the Trojans to a 64-22 win over Payette.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Hudson Hughes, Ambrose: The sophomore led the Archers to a 3-0 start by averaging 17.3 points a night and sinking 11-of-21 3-pointers. He also added 3.7 assists and 3.7 steals per game.

Tanner Hayhurst, Eagle: The senior topped 30 points twice, averaging 24.3 points per game as the Mustangs started the season 3-0. He also averaged 7.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in wins over Skyview, Summit (Ore.) and Bend (Ore.).

Austin Bolt, Borah: The senior forward started the season with three straight triple-doubles. He led the Lions to a 3-0 start with 26.7 points and 11.7 rebounds a night.

Cooper Frith, Rocky Mountain: The senior guard had a busy first week, leading the Grizzlies to three wins in four games while averaging 25.3 points. He scored 31 as Rocky Mountain came just short of upsetting Utah’s Wasatch Academy, the No. 15 team in the nation, in double overtime.

Vince McFarland, Boise: The senior forward racked up a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds in Boise’s 53-46 win over Madison. He finished the week averaging 14.7 points per game.

Michael Onaindia, Cascade: The senior forward tallied three double-doubles against Victory Charter, Idaho City and Cove (Ore.), finishing the week with 16.7 points and 13 rebounds a night.

WRESTLING

Angel Rios, Columbia: The senior went 10-0 to win the 152-pound title at Montana’s Sidney Eagle Invite after finishing third there the past three years.

Cade Hernandez, Meridian: The senior and two-time state finalist rolled through the Buck’s Bags Dual Tournament, going 7-0 on the weekend.

Kyle Austin, Middleton: The senior and 4.0 student went 8-0 at Buck’s Bags, winning seven of his matches via a pin and the other by a technical fall.

Trent Myers, New Plymouth: The sophomore more than held his own against larger-school competition at Buck’s Bags, going 6-0 with five pins.

Dedrick Navarro, Nampa: The freshman pinned five opponents and went 7-0 in the gold bracket at Buck’s Bags.
