Boise State adds transfer wide receiver from Pac-12 who had celebrated high school career
The Boise State football team has now added three transfers to its 2023 recruiting class in the past two days.
Former Colorado wide receiver Chase Penry announced Tuesday on Twitter that he’s joining the Broncos. He follows former Wisconsin safety Titus Toler and junior college cornerback A’marion McCoy, both of whom committed on Monday. They were two of the four recruits who joined the Broncos’ class on Monday.
Penry joined the Buffaloes as a three-star recruit in 2021, and he got on the field right away. He played in 11 games and started three as a freshman, and caught the first touchdown of his career. He also returned punts and kicks. He has three years of eligibility left.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Greenwood Village, Colorado, played in just four games this year and caught only two passes for 25 yards before nagging injuries put him on the shelf for the rest of the season. He announced he was transferring earlier this month.
Penry got used to winning at Cherry Creek High School in Colorado. Cherry Creek went 45-5 in his four varsity seasons, including a streak of 23 straight wins during Penry’s junior and senior seasons, both of which ended with state championships. The Bruins were also state runner-up his sophomore year.
His 159 career catches at Cherry Creek rank No. 10 in Colorado high school history. Penry finished his high school career with 2,081 yards and 16 touchdowns through the air.
