The Boise State football team has added four players to its 2023 recruiting class a couple of days before early signing day.

Former Wisconsin safety Titus Toler was the first player to join on Monday. He was followed by Thousand Oaks (California) High School linebacker Chase Martin and Kamiakin (Washington) High cornerback Gabe Tahir. Junior college cornerback A’marion McCoy joined the class Monday afternoon.

Toler entered the transfer portal on Dec. 5 after three seasons with the Badgers. The native of Long Beach, California, has three years of eligibility remaining.

He played at a high school that is familiar to Boise State fans. Toler suited up for St. John Bosco in California, which is the same program that produced Broncos running back George Holani, who just wrapped up the second 1,000-yard season of his career.

Toler was a four-star recruit coming out of high school, according to 247Sports. He chose Wisconsin after originally committing to Colorado. He also had scholarship offers from Washington, Washington State, California, Arizona State, Boston College, Illinois, Minnesota, Oregon State, San Jose State and Vanderbilt.

He joins the Broncos just as veteran safeties JL Skinner and Tyreque Jones are on their way out. Skinner likely will hear his name called in the 2023 NFL Draft after earning first-team All-Mountain West honors this season with a team-high four interceptions and 65 tackles, which ranked No. 2 on the team.

Jones also has a shot at a future in the NFL, and he’ll be one of several Broncos who work out for NFL Scouts during the team’s Pro Day in late March. He finished his six-year career at Boise State with 157 tackles and four interceptions.

Versatile LB joins class

Martin, a three-star recruit, chose the Broncos over scholarship offers from Baylor, Washington State, UNLV, San Jose State, Fresno State, Central Michigan, Bryant and Ohio, according to 247Sports.

The 6-2, 210-pounder starred on both sides of the ball in high school. He rushed for 1,017 yards and 19 touchdowns and added five touchdown catches this fall, according to MaxPreps. On defense, he tallied 131 tackles and 3.5 sacks while helping Thousand Oaks finish his final season with a 10-1 record. Martin racked up 127 tackles as a junior.

‘Sneaky star’ DB commits

Tahir is a three-star recruit from Kamiakin High School in Washington. He also has scholarship offers from Penn State, Air Force, Army, Colorado State, Hawaii, Nevada, Utah State, Eastern Washington, Idaho and Idaho State.

He’s the sixth defensive back to join the Broncos’ class, but 247Sports national recruiting editor Brandon Huffman said he’s a diamond in the rough.

“He’s a guy who I’ve been high on since his freshman year,” Huffman told the Statesman on Monday. “He was a DB MVP at a camp at Oregon as a sophomore, and this is a guy who I think could end up being a sneaky star.”

JUCO corner joins the fold

McCoy spent last season at Laney College in Oakland, California, where he posted 35 tackles, four interceptions and two forced fumbles in nine games.

The 6-1, 170-pound cornerback also has scholarship offers from Fresno State, Murray State, Norfolk State and Morgan State, according to 247Sports.
