Live updates: Fresno State wins Mountain West title, beats Boise State 28-16
The Boise State football team is bowl-eligible for the 25th season in a row, but the Broncos haven’t played in one since the 2019 Las Vegas Bowl.
Boise State’s players voted to skip a bowl game in 2020 after the COVID-shortened season, and the Broncos were forced to pull out of the Arizona Bowl last year after the virus reared its ugly head again.
The Broncos’ bowl destination this year is up in the air after they lost 28-16 to Fresno State in the Mountain West championship game on Saturday.
The conference champion is guaranteed a spot in the Jimmy Kimmel L.A. Bowl, which made its debut last year when Utah State knocked Oregon State 24-13. Fresno State will meet UCLA, Washington State or Oregon State in that game.
Bowl matchups will be announced officially on Sunday afternoon, but two bowls the Mountain West sends teams to are apparently off the table. Wyoming will play in the Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl, according to the Casper Star-Tribune, and San Diego State will play Middle Tennessee in the Hawaii Bowl.
