Former Boise State quarterback Hank Bachmeier’s father, Michael, had some harsh words for the program this week.

Bachmeier told writers for Inland Fieldhouse — a blog focused primarily on high school sports in Southern California — that his son had to “get the hell out of Boise State.”

He went on to say that Boise State promised fix the struggling offense, but it never happened, according to Inland Fieldhouse. Michael Bachmeier said his son was sacked an average of two times a game during the more than three seasons he spent as the Broncos’ starter.

Michael Bachmeier also confirmed that Hank is officially in the transfer portal.

Redshirt freshman Taylen Green took over at quarterback after Bachmeier left the team, and the 6-foot-6 native of Allen, Texas, has led the Broncos in back-to-back wins over San Diego State and Fresno State.

Green and the Broncos take on Air Force today (5 p.m., CBSSN).

Hank Bachmeier opted to transfer just a few days after Boise State’s loss to 15-point underdog UTEP on Sept. 23. Offensive coordinator Tim Plough was fired the day after the game.

Bachmeier came to Boise State as one of the highest-rated recruits in program history. He was a four-star recruit coming out of Murrieta Valley High School in California, and he won the starting job as a true freshman in 2019.

He missed six games as a freshman because of injuries, but the Broncos went 7-1 in the games he started. Bachmeier missed two games in 2020 after he tested positive for COVID-19, and he played through a knee injury while leading the Broncos to a 7-5 record last season.

Boise State went 20-9 with Bachmeier as the starter. He ranks in the top 10 in program history in career passing yards (6,605, No. 7) and touchdown passes (41, No. 7).
