Boise State basketball’s hometown star Drew Fielder to enter transfer portal
Boise State junior forward Drew Fielder intends to enter the transfer portal, he told the Idaho Statesman on Monday afternoon.
That will mean Fielder, a Boise native who began his high school career at Rocky Mountain High before transferring to a Southern California prep school, came home for just one season.
The 6-foot-11 forward confirmed over the phone that he plans to go into the portal, which opens officially on April 7, but declined to comment further.
ESPN first reported that Fielder was going to transfer.
Fielder began his college basketball career at Georgetown in the Big East, and appeared in all 63 possible games across two seasons for the Hoyas. He made the jump to Boise State ahead of the 2025-26 season, calling it an “honor” to play for the team he rooted for as a kid.
In his one season with the Broncos, Fielder led the team in scoring (14.7 per game) and rebounding (5.7), and also total blocks (17). He started in 30 of 32 games for the Broncos and also led all regular contributors in field goal percentage (54.7%).
Fielder will have one year of eligibility remaining wherever he lands.
