Former Idaho great Destiny Slocum is transferring again. Where will she land this time?

Former Mountain View High star Destiny Slocum announced Thursday she intends to transfer from the Oregon State women’s basketball program and has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

Slocum made the announcement on Twitter, where she said she will hit the market as a graduate transfer for her final year of college eligibility. Grad transfers do not have to sit out a season before playing for a new team.

“I appreciate all who supported me in this decision — coaches, teammates, fans, academic staff, strength and conditioning, athletic trainers and many more,” Slocum wrote. “Thank you to my coaches for giving me an opportunity to wear the Beaver uniform and be a part of this special program.”

Slocum will hit the transfer market as one of the country’s most sought-after players. Her 507 career assists ranks second in the country by any non-senior. She led nationally ranked Oregon State in scoring (14.9 point per game) and assists (4.7) this season. And she was named an honorable mention all-American for the second time earlier Thursday by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

Slocum drew praise from four-time gold medalist Diana Taurasi after a November exhibition game. Caught on camera, Taurasi told Slocum: “I love the way you play. You play hard every time.”

Slocum’s decision came as a surprise because she’s already transferred once. She left Maryland after one season, a season when she was named the national freshman of the year.

The 2016 Mountain View High grad left Idaho as one of its most decorated girls basketball players of all time. She was the first boy or girl from Idaho to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game. She won a gold medal with the U.S. women’s team at the FIBA U19 World Championship in 2015. And she was a two-time all-class and All-Idaho player of the year after leading the Mavericks to back-to-back 5A state titles.

“Most of all, I want to thank my teammates,” Slocum wrote. “The bonds and relationships I have built with you all are something special I will cherish forever. I have nothing but complete love for you all. Oregon State and Beaver Nation will always hold a special place in my heart.”
