Boise Hawks earn first victory of Northwest League season

Wes Jones scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball, and Boise came back from a 4-0 deficit to defeat the Eugene Emeralds 6-4 in 13 innings in a Northwest League baseball game Sunday night at P.K. Park.

The Hawks (1-2) allowed four runs in the first four innings before tying the game in the top of the sixth. Daniel Suero drove in Tyler Orris with an RBI double, then he scored on a third-strike wild pitch to Luis Castro. Castro stole second and scored on a Jacob Bosiokovic double, and Bosiokovic tied the game at 4-4 on a two-out balk.

Boise’s relievers responded with eight scoreless innings — allowing four hits, striking out six and walking none. Christian Talley pitched the 12th and 13th, surrendering one hit, to earn the win.

Jones led off the top of the 13th with a walk and advanced to third on a Will Haynie double. Orris hit a sacrifice fly to plate Haynie and create the final margin.

Boise’s home opener is 7:15 p.m. Monday against Salem-Keizer (2-1) at Memorial Stadium.
