The Idaho Steelheads cleaned up in postseason awards after a record-setting season in which they set ECHL records for wins (58) and points (119).

They’re now set to open the Kelly Cup Playoffs against the Utah Grizzlies on Wednesday. The puck drops at 7:10 p.m. at Idaho Central Arena. The best-of-7 series continues in Boise on Friday and then moves to Utah for possibly three games (April 26, April 28, April 29) and returns to Boise, if necessary, May 1 and 2.

Everett Sheen received the John Brophy Award as the league’s coach of the year Tuesday, while defensemen Cody Haiskanen and Matt Register were the co-recipients of the AMI Graphics Plus performer of the year award after finishing the season with a plus-minus rating of +53.

Register and Owen Headrick were also named to the All-ECHL First Team, while goaltender Adam Scheel was named to the All-ECHL Second Team.

The Steelheads set franchise records this season for wins (58), home wins (32), road wins (26), points (119), fewest regulation losses (11), most goals scored (290), fewest goals allowed (183) and shutouts (11).
