Tamarack Resort announces new president, while former head will ‘return to his roots’
Less than two years after taking on the role as leader of Idaho’s Tamarack Resort, Jon Reveal will “return to his roots” at the ski area, while a familiar face will take the helm, according to a Thursday news release.
Reveal, an industry veteran who has worked in management at resorts like Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Yellowstone Club and Aspen Skiing Co., will become Tamarack’s director of skiing. Scott Turlington, an Idaho government affairs consultant, will be the resort’s new president.
Turlington already has a history at Tamarack. He worked there as an executive when the Donnelly-area mountain first opened in 2004, leaving in 2007 to pursue a private consulting business. His departure predated the 2008 economic downturn that saw Tamarack foreclosed upon, its construction left unfinished and a popular ski lift repossessed via helicopter.
When investment partnership Tamarack Resort Holdings bought the struggling property in November of 2018, Reveal stepped into the leadership role. Since then, construction on the unfinished Village Plaza has resumed, the repossessed Wildwood lift reinstalled and summer offerings expanded.
“The workload these past two years has been intense, and it’s rewarding to see the fruits of those efforts in the new Wildwood terrain and growth of The Village,” Reveal said in the release. “I look forward to making my mark on the ski school and paying forward the knowledge and passion I have for the sport to help it grow here in Idaho and across the West.”
The ski school will now bear Reveal’s name. A dedication ceremony is tentatively scheduled for December 2020.
In the meantime, Turlington said he plans to carry on the projects Reveal started.
“Tamarack’s ownership has laid out bold initiatives for the resort and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lead the team that will make these things happen,” he said in the release. “I look forward to building upon our great working relationships with Valley County and the State of Idaho, including the Governor and all the members of the Idaho Land Board of Commissioners.”
Kyle Mowitz, cofounder of Tamarack Resort Holdings investor Imperium Blue, said Turlington’s prior experience at the resort will prove invaluable.
“Scott’s history with Tamarack and deep knowledge of Idaho make him a strong leader for the resort as we look to the future and focus on realizing the vision of this master-planned, resort destination,” Mowitz said.
