Warmer weather headed to Boise before cold front hits. When will temps change?

After a few cool, rainy and drafty days, unseasonably warm and sunny weather is on its way to the Boise area.

“High pressure continues to build … leading to a period of dry and relatively quiet weather through the weekend,” the National Weather Service said in its latest Idaho state forecast discussion.

“A warming trend will take hold through Sunday, with temperatures rising 5 to 10 degrees above seasonal normals for most valley locations,” the weather service said in the forecast, published Friday, March 6.

Meanwhile, mountain areas can anticipate “scattered light showers” until Saturday morning, according to the forecast.

However, this warm weather trend could be short-lived as a cold front moves in.

Early next week, “a push of significantly colder air from the north will bring a return of widespread precipitation and a sharp drop in temperatures,” the forecast said, bringing “a mix of rain and snow to valley floors with accumulating snow possible for mountain passes across northern and central Idaho.”
