Will Idaho see warm, dry weather or rain in fall 2025? Here’s the latest forecast

Cooler weather is coming to Idaho, but you may need to wait a bit longer to break out the sweaters.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac is predicting higher-than-average temperatures in Idaho this fall.

“Your trek to the pumpkin patch may be a bit steamy this year,” the almanac said in its fall 2025 weather predictions report. “The Old Farmer’s Almanac is predicting a warmer-than-normal autumn this year.”

“In fact,” the Old Farmer’s Almanac added, “it should be quite warm for the western half of the United States.”

When is the first day of fall in 2025?

Temperatures start to drop and plant growth slows at the arrival of the autumn equinox, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

The fall equinox marks the official start of fall for the Northern Hemisphere.

The sun will meet with the “celestial equator,” “an imaginary extension of Earth’s equator line into space,” the Old Farmer’s Almanac said.

“Having reached its northernmost point at the June solstice, (the sun) starts moving southward until it crosses the equator on the day of the September equinox,” according to time zone tracking website Time and Date.

The December solstice marks the southernmost point of the sun’s journey.

In 2025, the fall equinox lands on Monday, Sept. 22, at exactly 12:19 p.m., according to Time and Date.

Idaho and the rest of the region will see warm, dry weather from September through November, the Old Farmer’s Almanac said.

Both September and October will be warmer than usual, according to the almanac.

The average temperature in September will be 67 degrees, the Old Farmer’s Almanac said, while October is expected to have an average daily temperature of 52 degrees.

Temperatures are set to cool at the beginning of September as the average daily temperature drops from 72 degrees in August to 67 degrees, the almanac said.

Sunny and warm days are set to dominate the first weeks of September, according to predictions.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center, Idaho has a 33% to 50% chance of above-normal temperatures in September, October and November.

Will Idaho see rain in September or October?

Idaho will likely see below-average rainfall during the fall months, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

The first half of September should see the most showers, the almanac said in its 60-day prediction.

September could see an average of 0.5 inches of rainfall for the month, which is a half-inch below normal, the almanac predicted.

October should see an inch of rainfall, the Old Farmer’s Almanac said.

The Climate Prediction Center said Idaho has equal chances of experiencing above-normal or below-normal rainfall in September, October and November.
